Supported platforms

The agent is Linux-only on x86_64/amd64 and aarch64/arm64. This page lists installer checks, host tools, and what is not claimed.

On this page

The CloudStats agent is Linux only. The installer refuses any other kernel:

CloudStats Agent supports Linux only.

Windows and macOS are not supported. CloudStats does not ship Windows or macOS agent binaries.

Architectures#

The installer reads uname -m and accepts only:

uname -mArtifact
x86_64cloudstats-agent-linux-amd64
aarch64 or arm64cloudstats-agent-linux-arm64

Any other architecture exits with Unsupported architecture. CloudStats publishes those two Linux artifacts for each agent version. Other architectures are not supported.

What the installer checks#

The public install script checks:

  1. uname -s is Linux
  2. The process is root (id -u is 0)
  3. uname -m is one of the architectures above

It does not check distribution name, distribution version, kernel version, or cgroup version. This documentation therefore does not claim support for named releases such as a specific Ubuntu or Debian version.

Host tools the install path uses#

The customer install command is curl … | sudo bash, so the host needs:

  • bash (the install script is a bash script)
  • curl with HTTPS (TLS 1.2, retries, limited redirects)
  • sha256sum, grep, install, mktemp, mkdir, chmod, cat, sed, rm, mv
  • systemctl (systemd). The script enables and starts cloudstats-agent.service. There is no non-systemd install path in the current installer.

The uninstall helper is a POSIX sh script and also calls systemctl.

Published v0.2.2 binaries#

Verified against the current objects for v0.2.2 (also the latest pointer at investigation time):

  • cloudstats-agent-linux-amd64 is an ELF x86-64 executable, dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2. The highest GNU libc symbol version on that file is GLIBC_2.34.
  • cloudstats-agent-linux-arm64 is an ELF AArch64 executable, statically linked.

Those facts describe the current files. They are not a list of approved distributions. If a host cannot load the amd64 binary, the installer checksum step or the service start will fail; this documentation does not guess which distro packages would fix that.

Network#

The host must reach:

  • https://install.cloudstats.me (script download)
  • https://api.cloudstats.me (enrollment and metrics)

Auto-update on v0.2.2 also downloads later agent versions over HTTPS from CloudStats-controlled storage. See Agent updates.
